Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Her Excellency ITO Takako, Attended the Ceremony for SATREPS-EARTH Project to Start Nutrition Improvement Survey and Buns Distribution

   On November 14th, 2022, the ceremony of Spirulina-buns distribution was held at Sebatamit Elementary School in Bahir Dar City. This ceremony was the commencement of investigating the effects of highly nutritious microalgae Spirulina on improving the nutrition of children under the SATREPS-EARTH Project Theme 4 "Business Model Proposal and Social Implementation".

   Her Excellency ITO Takako, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ethiopia, attended the ceremony and the children performed a welcome song. H.E. ITO also tasted the Spirulina buns with the children and commented on how impressed she was with their cute smiles and singing welcome.
   In addition to H.E. ITO, members of the Japanese Embassy in Ethiopia and JICA, the principal, the vice-principal, teachers, and about 100 first-year students of Sebatamit Elementary School, and the owner and employees of the local Peda Bakery participated to the ceremony. From the EARTH Project, Associate Professor Solomon Addisu Legesse and Assistant Professor Mulat Tirfie Bayih from Bahir Dar University, Professor TAKAGI Isao of the Faculty of Economics, and Professor SASAKI Satoshi of the Faculty of Nursing from Soka University participated.
   The nutrition improvement survey will continue until April 2023.
