Project manager of SATREPS-EARTH project, Associate Professor Dr. Solomon Addisu Legesse in Bahir Dar University visited Japan

Dr. Solomon Addisu Legesse, Associate Professor of Bahir Dar University and manager of the SATREPS-EARTH project, visited Japan from April 7 to 16, 2023. He visited three research institutes on the Japanese side, gave lectures in universities, and had discussions about new collaborative research.

On April 11th, he gave a lecture to the Faculty of Science and Engineering, at Soka University. In the lecture, he talked about the effect of climate change on agriculture in Ethiopia. He also mentioned the current situation of water hyacinth in Ethiopia and Lake Tana. Many participants asked engaging questions during the Q&A session, and the discussions were very lively.
On April 13th and 14th, Dr. Solomon visited the Lake Biwa Environmental Research Institute (LBERI) and the University of Shiga Prefecture (USP) with Professor Shinjiro Sato (Faculty of Science and Engineering), leader of the SATREPS-EARTH project. After discussing theme 1 at LBERI, they gave lectures to the USP faculty. Dr. Solomon talked about climate change and agriculture in Ethiopia, and Prof. Sato introduced the SATREPS-EARTH project.

Despite the busy and hectic schedule, the time Dr. Solomon shared with us in Japan was a very memorable and fulfilling experience.
