SATREPS-EARTH Project Team Conducts Lecture at 88th Annual Conference of The Japanese Society of Limnology

The SATREPS-EARTH Project team conducted a lecture titled “Sustainable Conservation of Lake Ecosystem Through Treatment, Management, and Utilization of Overgrown Aquatic Plants” at the 88th Annual Conference of The Japanese Society of Limnology, which was held at Kumamoto University on October 20, 2024 (Lecture conveners: Professor Ban, The University of Shiga Prefecture; Professor Sato, Soka University; Dr. Ishikawa, Lake Biwa Environmental Research Institute).
The Japanese Society of Limnology was established in 1931. It conducts holistic research about inland water bodies from various fields such as geophysics, biology, and environmental science. This lecture was a great opportunity to introduce the objective and activities of the project to the audience.
During the Q&A session, the participants discussed some topics, including the image recognition method of water hyacinth using ICT technology, the principle of granule formation observed in methane fermentation treatment of compressed juice from water hyacinth, the amount of water and the presence of heavy metals during the carbonization of water hyacinth, the appropriate use of spirulina cultivated with anaerobic digestion effluent based on its composition.
