Professor Sato at Faculty of Science and Engineering Receives The Japan Carbonization Society Award
Professor Shinjiro SATO at the Department of Science and Engineering for Sustainable Innovation, Faculty of Science and Engineering, received the 2024 Japan Carbonization Society Award at the 22nd Annual Conference of the Japan Carbonization Research Society (September 19-21), which was held at Tohoku University Graduate School of Environmental Studies in Miyagi Prefecture.
The Japan Carbonization Research Society promotes research and development related to the carbonization of biomass resources to enhance the efficient use of resources.

The awarded title of Professor Sato's research was "Systematic Research on Agricultural Use of Biochar." The Japan Carbonization Research Society recognized his achievement in the agricultural use of biochar in soil improvement both in Japan and abroad.
Professor Sato said, "I am grateful to the chairperson of the Japan Carbonization Research Society, who recommended me for the award, and the committee members, for awarding me this prestigious award. I also appreciate everyone who has dedicated themselves to promoting biochar research and participated in conferences and research presentations. More than that, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the past and current students of the Environmental Soil Science Laboratory, who have conducted biochar research together. Any research cannot be advanced without their dedicated effort. I will continue to work diligently toward advancing biochar research."
