Student from Graduate School of Science and Engineering Receives Excellent Poster Award at International Conference

Yuka MASUBUCHI, a master's student majoring in Environmental Engineering for Symbiosis at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, received the Excellent Poster Award at the 2nd International Conference on Biochar Research and Application & Asia Pacific Biochar Conference (ICBRA & APBC), which was held in Shenyang, China (September 20-22).

In her presentation titled “Phosphorus Species Transformation in Biochar Pyrolyzed with Calcium Carbonate and Its Potential Use as Phosphorus Fertilizer,” she explained her research on the possibility of the use of phosphorus fertilizer by examining phosphorus species in biochar obtained by chemically treating organic wastes. This study was conducted within the framework of the SATREPS-EARTH project.

Ms. Masubuchi said, “I am truly honored to receive this award. APBC was the first international conference I have ever attended, and I am grateful to Professor Sato and everyone in the laboratory for their advice and support. I hope to contribute to solving environmental issues by deepening my research about waste utilization.”
