Lecture at the Global Biochar Exchange 2025

On April 22 and 23, 2025, Professor Sato of the Faculty of Science and Engineering conducted an invited lecture titled “Biochar derived from Water Hyacinth for Energy and Soil Amendment Applications in Ethiopia” at the Global Biochar Exchange 2025, which was organized at Nagoya city, Aichi prefecture by International Biochar Initiative and TOWING.

In the lecture, professor Sato presented his research about producing biochar from invasive water hyacinth in Lake Tana, Ethiopia, and using it as an alternative fuel and soil amendment.

Part of this research was conducted under the SATREPS-EARTH project.
