SATREPS-EARTH Project Symposium Held
On March 13, the SATREPS-EARTH Project Symposium was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The symposium brought together a total of 53 participants, including 22 representatives from Japanese research institutions, 20 representatives from Ethiopian research institutions, and 11 participants from other organizations.
In the first session, Prof. Sato (Project Leader; Soka University (SU)) provided an overview of the achievements and future prospects of the SATREPS-EARTH Project. Opening remarks were then delivered by Prof. Mika Suzuki (President, SU), whose message was red n her behalf by Prof. Koichi Kandachi (Vice President, SU), Dr. Kindie Birhan (Vice President, Injibara University), and Ms. Chie Shimodaira (Senior Representative, JICA Ethiopia Office).
The session also featured presentations on research progress and achievements in Ethiopia by Dr. Solomon Addisu Legesse (Project Manager; Bahir Dar University (BDU)) and the Ethiopian Theme Leaders. During the Q&A session, Dr. Solomon answered participants' questions regarding future activities after the project's completion.
The second session featured a panel discussion on the contribution of the SATREPS-EARTH Project's research achievements to Ethiopian society. Panelists included representatives from BDU, Addis Ababa University, Jimma University, UNICEF Ethiopia, and Mulmul Bakery.
The symposium concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Sato and Prof. Eneyew (Vice President, BDU).
For the symposium, Mulmul Bakery provided spirulina-added cookies developed under the project.
