The origin of humanistic education in Soka University first started from the ideology of Soka Education brought about by Tsunesaburo Makiguchi. Based on the principles of “for the happiness of each individual” and “Do not build one’s own happiness on the unhappiness of others”, students from different cultural backgrounds cultivate themselves to be creative global citizens who can create value and contribute to the society while polishing themselves and broadening their insights.

 As we welcome a global society that allows the world to be more connected, we hope to further commit ourselves to our endeavor for Global Citizenship Education. We hope to hold this international symposium as an opportunity to discuss Global Citizenship Education while inviting many of the researchers and guests from international organizations who are actualizing Global Citizenship Education in schools and academic institutions.
