The second volume of the book “History and Personalities”(tentative translation) by Soka University Founder Daisaku Ikeda was published on May 3 by Daisan Bunmei-sha Inc. (The first volume was published on November 15, 2024)
Ikeda Research Institute for Soka Education (IRISE) provided planning and editorial support.
This book includes Mr. Ikeda's lectures to youth from the 21st century, focusing on various personalities. It primarily features content not found in “The Complete Works of Daisaku Ikeda.” (Beethoven’s section is an anthology that includes previously recorded works.)
The second volume includes lectures on Kant, Socrates, Nightingale, Tolstoy, Beethoven, and others. The first volume focuses on Goethe, Lu Xun, Marie Curie, and Dante.
Great figures around the world, despite battling jealousy, hatred, bullying, persecution, and even illness, undaunted, they stood up for their people. How did they overcome their hardships, what were their beliefs, and how did they live their lives? Mr. Ikeda’s view of history and people will surely provide encouragement and awareness to many people on and off campus.
