Through the literature review, I learned that the society in the United States actively involved in interventions with families and children in prevention of child abuse. Through the field research, I examined how the society took roles for child abuse prevention and intervention with families in the US and how it might benefit Japanese people and bring better influence in the society in prevention of child abuse if we implemented it in Japan.
Field Research

I interviewed three nurses who practice different specialty. They explained about child abuse prevention in the U.S. The questions that I prepared for the interviews were:“What do you do for abuse prevention?” and “How do you think about the relation between family and social support for child abuse prevention services?” The result of the interviews revealed that each speciality used different intervention methods. However, all three nurses mentioned that establishing a good relationship between families and the society was an important strategy for success of child abuse prevention. Moreover, one nurse mentioned that the assessment skills and the nursing philosophy were very useful for child abuse prevention.

Through the field research, I have learned that the diverse health professionals in the multicultural society of the US have such great influence on the medical treatment and nursing care. Their contribution to provide patients with cultural congruent care and support make differences in many ways. Moreover, I found that the society has been taking active roles in prevention not to wait for the families to seek for help. I believe that such individualized care would also benefit patients and their families in Japan. I have learned through this research study was that showing respect of diversity and having global mind have really a strong impact on nursing and healthcare.
