1969 Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA). Spent 20 years engaged in China-related work during the 41 years of service.

2006-2010 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People's Republic of China

Besides this, he held positions such as Director of the Arms Control and Disarmament Division, MOFA, Private Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta, Ambassador, Director-General for Arms Control and Scientific Affairs, MOFA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Union of Myanmar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in charge of Okinawan Affairs.

Kang Sang-jung

President, Chinzei Gakuin University
Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo

Political Scientist, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, President and Board Member of Chinsei Gakuin University, First President of Chinsei Gakuin University, and Chairperson of Kumamoto Prefectural Theater. Born in Kumamoto in 1950.

His areas of expertise include political science and the history of political thought, with a particular focus on theories of Asian regionalism and post-colonial theory concerning Japanese imperialism.

Over a million copies of his books have been sold, including bestsellers such as "The Power to Worry," "The Power to Worry: Continued," "The Power of the Heart," "The Power of Evil," "The Words of Soseki," and "The Future of the Korean Peninsula and Japan." He has also authored novels such as "Mother - Omoni" and "Heart."

Han Dongyu

Former Vice President of Northeast Normal University 
President, Chinese Academic Society for Japanese History (Tentative translation)

Completed his undergraduate course and master’s degree from Northeast Normal University. Completed his doctoral degree from Tokyo University.

He has received honors and held positions such as Distinguished Professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education, President of the Chinese Association for Japanese History, and Vice-President of the Chinese History Association.
His area of expertise includes Japanese history, the history of East Asian thought, and international relations in East Asia.

He has published many books and academic papers such as:
“‘Disengagement from Confucianism' to ‘Disengagement from Asia' — The Intellectual Process of ‘Decentralization' in Japan Since the Early Modern Period”

Jia Huixuan

Professor, Peking University, School of International Studies

Born in March 1941 in Anguo County, Heibei Province in China.
1966 Graduated from the Department of Japanese Language and Culture, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University.
1968 Joined the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and while in the China-Japan Friendship Association, she promoted activities amongst civilians to improve the friendship between China and Japan.

She held positions such as the board member of the China-Japan Friendship Association, she was Dean of the Friendship and Exchange Association for a long time, and during this period she researched and wrote many academic papers on Japan-China Relations, cultural comparisons between the two countries, and Japan-China Folklore stories between the two countries.

1988 She was invited to Peking University and established the Japan Research Center along with a colleague, engaging in academic exchange and research between Japan and China. She served as the Deputy Director of the Center, Secretary General, Associate Professor, and Professor. She has held more than 20 positions at Institutions related to Japan-China research including as Vice Director of the Chinese Association for Japanese Studies, Director of the Peking University Ikeda Research Center, Head of the Naomichi Ishige Research Center, Director of the Global Ryokan Study Group, President of the Japan-China Cultural and Tourism Alliance, Board member and Vice-President of the International Folklore Society of Asia. She has been a visiting researcher at many Japanese universities and research institutions including Keio University, Meiji University, International Research Center for Japanese Studies, and Soka University. She was also a visiting professor at Nippon Institute of Technology and Soka University, and a Special Correspondent at Global Times. She has given many Cultural Lectures, and she retired from Peking University, School of International Studies in 2004.

Her major works include “Japanese Customs and Traditions”(Peking University Publication, June 1987), “China-Japan Folklore Tales”(Shakai Hyoron Sha, Co-authored with Yoshikazu Kasuga, March 1991), “Comparison of Food Culture between Japan and China”(Peking University Publication, June 1990), “Food is Heaven – Contemporary Chinese Food Culture”(Co-authored with Naomichi Ishige, July 2000), “Collection of Research Papers on Daisaku Ikeda”(Co-edited with Zhang Kexi) Hong Kong Journal of Social Sciences, June 2004, and “Masatake Morita – Effective Treatments for Mental Illness”(China Social Sciences Press, February 2010). She regularly published articles and serialized publications in Japanese and Chinese Newspapers, with the total number exceeding 200.

Kazuteru Saionji

Visiting Professor, Higashi Nippon International University

Born on October 26, 1942. Moved to Beijing with his parents in 1958.
Graduated from the Beijing City No. 25 High School.
Graduated from the School of Economics, Peking University in 1967.
1971 – 2002 Worked at Asahi Newspaper Headquarters in Tokyo.
After retiring, he held various positions such as Visiting Professor at Sugiyama Jogakuen University and Kogakuin University, Director of Confucius Institute at Kogakuin University, and Lecturer at Keio University. Currently, he is a Visiting Professor at Higashi Nippon University, School of International Studies, Peking University and School of International Studies, Communication University of China. Besides this, he is an Advisor to the Japan-China Friendship Association, Chairperson of the Global and Regional Research Society, and a Representative of the Future Japan-China Research Association

Ji Yaguang

Professor, Nankai University, College of Marxism

2004 Joined the Nankai University Research Institute for 21st-Century Marxism as a faculty member after obtaining a PhD in History from Nankai University.

Since then, he has held key positions at Nankai University, including Director of the Research Institute for 21st-Century Marxism, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Executive Vice Dean of the Xi Jinping Ideology on the New Era Chinese Socialism Research Institute, and Director of the 21st Century Marxism Research Institute at the China University of Social Sciences.
He has authored more than 20 books including “Zhou Enlai, Daisaku Ikeda and China-Japan Friendship” and “Zhou Enlai, Deng Yingchao and Daisaku Ikeda,” and has written over 100 academic papers.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

1999 Visited Japan along with Prof. Wang Yong Xiang, the Director of the Nankai University Zhou Enlai Research Center, and conducted joint research with Soka University. Co-authored “Zhou Enlai and Daisaku Ikeda” with Prof. Wang Yong Xiang.

2006 Established a student group “Zhou Enlai and Daisaku Ikeda Research.”
