As an initiative of the Ikeda Research Institute for Soka Education (IRISE) website, a page introducing the history of exchange between Soka University and China was created.

The year 2024 marked the 50th anniversary of the first visit to China by Soka University’s Founder, Daisaku Ikeda, on May 30. It also marked 50 years since his second visit and his historic meeting with Premier Zhou Enlai on December 5.
The Founder spoke about this once-in-a-lifetime meeting with Soka University students on many occasions, sharing that it was a meeting where Premier Zhou entrusted the future of the friendship between Japan and China to him.
In December 2024, the “International Symposium Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Meeting Between Zhou Enlai and Daisaku Ikeda” was held at the University.

At the same time, Soka University has consistently been striving for world peace and has taken many initiatives to promote friendship between Japan and China.

This project is a brief chronological record of exchanges with China from the time of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, the father of Soka Education, up until the present.
