【FILA】 Gratitude to my Parents #19

【FILA】 Gratitude to my Parents #19

Ms. Mai Goto
Faculty of International Liberal Arts

What feelings would you like to convey to your parents now?

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my parents, who have watched over me and supported me in everything I’ve wanted to do. They respected and warmly supported all of my decisions, including studying abroad in Hungary, taking a leave of absence, doing a long-term internship, and changing my career path. I know I took a detour, and that my decisions regarding my career and the delay in obtaining the required TOEFL score caused them concern for a long time. Yet, they continued to support me until the very end. Even during difficult times, they showed me their smiling faces through video calls and encouraged me, which became a huge source of strength for me and helped me overcome challenges.

Do you have any impressive memories of your parents in your FILA life?

There were times when the pressure of balancing language learning and job hunting became overwhelming. During such moments, video calls with my parents were an incredible source of support. Even late at night, they would give me advice and encourage me, saying, “You’ll definitely be fine, Mai,” showing more belief in me than anyone else. I’m also deeply grateful for how they always prioritized my health and well-being. Thanks to my parents' patient support and warm encouragement, I was able to keep going and never give up until the very end. When I finally achieved my goal and saw the joy and relief on my parents' faces, it made me incredibly happy.
