【FILA】 Gratitude to my Parents #20

Faculty of International Liberal Arts
What feelings would you like to convey to your parents now?
I have nothing but words of gratitude. Being able to study at Soka University for four years was undoubtedly thanks to the support of my parents. In my family, we have a principle: "Make your own decisions." There were times when I was unsure about my choices, but in the end, my parents always left the final decision up to me and respected me as an individual.
These past four years have been full of ups and downs, but I was able to make it to graduation because my father and mother ran alongside me every step of the way.
Moving forward, I know there will be times when I struggle and feel lost, but when that happens, I hope I can rely on you both as my life mentors.

Do you have any impressive memories of your parents in your FILA life?
One of the most memorable moments for me was when I finally achieved the TOEFL score required for graduation from FILA. Until December of my senior year, I struggled to reach the score, and there was a period when English was all I could think about.
I’ll never forget the time when I fell just short of the required score and was feeling down—my mother encouraged me, saying, "You’ll get it next time." Normally, she tends to push me forward since I move at my own pace, but at that moment, when I was feeling anxious, her positive words meant more to me than ever.
Though we sometimes argue, she always helps me realize what’s truly important, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
