Male dormitory for graduate school students [Pioneer Hall]
Pioneer Hall is open to successful candidates and degree-seeking MALE students enrolled in postgraduate program. This off-campus dormitory was built in April 1997 to provide a place for interaction and to support research's life of the students.

Eligibility
- Current graduate school students or the successful candidates enrolled in postgraduate program.
- Those who able to make the dormitory payment in a lump-sum or installments for semesters.
Period to stay
Basically 1 year.
For the students who under enrollment period are available to apply for continuation.
For those who do not apply for continuation after one-year stay may order to moving out from dormitory
Moving-out
Please submit Residence Status Form by end of December. Check-out date is by end of March. Details to be confirmed.

Female students apartment for graduate school students [Zephyr A]
“Zepyr A" is a rented apartment managed by SOGAKU Service Co. In addition to the rental fee, residents are responsible for their own utility, water, and communication costs.

Eligibility
- Female graduate students enrolled in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering.
- Applicants who have passed the graduate school entrance examination of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering and have completed the admission procedures.
Period of Stay
- Basically 2 year. Every year, we will confirm your intention to continue occupancy.
- In principle, it is not permitted to move out of the dormitory in the middle of the academic year.
- If you need to move out of the dormitory in the middle of the academic year, please notify the Office of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at least two months prior to the desired move-out date.

Teaching Assistantship
Soka University provides a teaching assistantship (TA) for graduate students to enhance and improve the effectiveness of education and to support graduate students financially.
Those who are hired as TA will assist in teaching in lectures, seminars, experiments, practical training, practical skills, and other classes deemed particularly necessary.
*It is not allowed to assist the faculty member in his/her personal work or research.
There are two types of TA:
Type 1: Assistance in lectures and seminars
Type 2: Assistance in experiment courses at the Faculty of Science and Engineering
Research Assistantship
Soka University hires Research Assistants (RA) to assist in research projects funded by national and local government grants, as well as research projects funded by other institutions.
RA is a system to financially support students enrolled in the doctoral degree program, and only they are eligible to be employed as RAs.
Grant for Academic Conference Presentation
The aim of this grant is to encourage and support graduate students' research activities and presentations of their research results at academic conferences outside of the university.
This grants can be provided up to the following amounts each school year to cover part of the travel expenses, etc. (including accommodation fees and participation registration fees) in the case that a graduate student gives a presentation at a conference, on obtaining the approval of such student’s supervisor.
(1) In the case of conferences held in Japan
Master's degree program students: 60,000 yen
Doctoral Degree Program students: 100,000 yen
(2) In the case of conferences held outside Japan: 100,000 yen
