修士課程 日本語教育専修

在学期間
4セメスター(2か年)在学する。
修了単位数
修士論文作成者、リサーチペーパー作成者ともに33単位。
※通算GPA2.5以上が修了要件になります。
指導教員の選定
指導教員「主指導教員」「副指導教員」各1名の合計2名です。
どの教員を「主指導教員」「副指導教員」にするかは、入学後の研究科ガイダンスの際に学生の意見を聞いた上で決定します。また、研究テーマの変更などにより、1年次の「指導教員」と協議の上、2年次からの「指導教員」を変更することは可能です。
履修登録
履修登録は、必ず指導教授等の指導のもとに履修計画を立て、ポータルサイト・学修支援メニューにある「履修・成績(WEB)」から行うこと。
履修計画を立てる際に指導を受ける教員は、入学後のガイダンスで決定する「主指導教員」です。
その他の科目
指導教授などの承認を得て、ほかの研究科・専攻、他大学の授業科目を担当者の許可を受けて10単位以内で修得し、修了に必要な単位(選択科目など)に算入することができます。
履修単位数の制限
各セメスター、16単位程度以下します。

学位論文の提出のためには、論文提出時までに20単位以上の単位を修得しておく必要があります。1年次が終わる時には20単位以上修得しておくことが目安です。

修士課程 英語教育専修 (Master’s Program in ILE: TESOL)

Students must earn 33 credits including completing a Master’s Thesis in TESOL (a Research Thesis or a Teaching and Learning Project) or a Research Paper in TESOL.
*Cumulative GPA 2.5+ is required for graduation
Selecting an Advisor
For the first semester, the ILE: TESOL Program Advisor will be the initial advisor for all students in order to give advice on registration, courses and other aspects of the program. By the end of the first semester, students must decide on individual primary advisors who will supervise the student for the remainder of their programs. These primary advisors will supervise the student in completing a Master’s Thesis in TESOL (a Research Thesis or a Teaching and Learning Project) or a Research Paper in TESOL during their second year of the program. Students are strongly encouraged to get to know their faculty members during their first semester and discuss the possibility of having the faculty member be their primary advisor until their graduation.
Registration
Students must register for courses through “Course Registration” menu on the Student Portal website after s/he plans the schedule under the guidance of:
Initial Program Advisor for the first semester
Primary advisor for the second, third and fourth semester
Registration for Courses in Other Programs
Students can register for courses of other graduate school programs, both in and outside Soka University, for up to 10 credits over the course of their complete program. Permission to enroll in such courses for credit must be received from the following: 1) the ILE: TESOL Program Chair, 2) the student’s advisor or other university representative who has been appointed and identified by the program, and 3) the instructor of the course for which the student wishes to register.

Submission of the Research Thesis or Teaching and Learning Project
In a case where a student completes the program in two years, the schedule will be as follows:

In order to submit a Master’s Thesis in TESOL (a Research Thesis or a Teaching and Learning Project) or a Research Paper in TESOL, students are required to earn more than 20 credits by the time of submission. It is preferable for a student to earn more than 20 credits by the end of the third semester.
