Students must be nominated by their home institution via the following form by the designated deadline:

STEP1: Complete Online Application

Online Application flow
- Pre-registration:
Access the above URL and click “Agree with the terms of use and begin application.”
Select language, enter your email address and click “send.” - Registration:
You will receive an email titled “Soka University - Your e-mail has been registered” from no-reply ‘at’ soka.campus-p.jp.
Access the URL indicated in the email and complete Registration.
You are asked to provide your personal information, academic background, etc. - Application:
You will receive an email with your ID, which is your email address, and password to access your ‘My Page.’
Access your ‘My Page’ from the URL indicated in the email and click “Sign In” with your ID and password.
Upload your headshot* and a copy of your passport photo page and complete Application.
*The headshot must meet designated requirements set by Immigration Services Agency of Japan.
Please note that information provided in the Online Application, including the headshot, will be used to apply for your Certificate of Eligibility through Japanese Immigration, which you will need for your visa application. Therefore, please make sure to provide correct information.
STEP2: Upload the required documents
Upload the following required documents to Soka University through the application system.

Applicants who are not from an English-speaking country and wish to attend Undergraduate level classes taught in English are required to submit a score report of an English proficiency test. TOEFL-iBT 71 or IELTS 5.5 or CEFR B2 or equivalent is required. | Soft-copy |

Announced by the Japanese government, exchange students from the Philippines, Nepal, and Vietnam, will need a Tuberculosis Clearance Certificate to enter Japan. This certificate will be needed when the university applies for your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) needed for your visa application. There are designated clinics and hospitals please visit one nearest to you and prepare the document. Please check the link on the right. ※In the near future, exchange students from Indonesia, Myanmar, and China will need to turn in the document. Once it is announced we will post it here. |

12. | Statement of Financial Eligibility | Should be completed by a person who will support the applicant’s living expenses in Japan. *It can be waived for only Soka University Makiguchi scholarship recipients. |

13. | Financial Eligibility Supporting Documents | Evidence of financial eligibility (e.g., bank statement) to cover the applicant’s living expenses. Bank statement or equivalent document must show a minimum amount of 300,000 JPY for one semester or 600,000 JPY for two semesters. |
